Why Does My Alexa Randomly Beep? Here’re The Solutions

Do not worry when your Alexa randomly beeps during the day or night. It’s not a severe issue and can be resolved once you identify the exact reason. I have experienced some different patterns of peeping the sound, randomly, continuously, twice, etc.

Some users experiencing Alexa beeping at night 3, 4, etc.

Let’s check what could be the problem.

Your Amazon Alexa Echo beeping (or some other weird sound like noises, chime, etc) may be due to any one of the following reason

  • Low battery warning of connected Bluetooth device (Usually beep 3 times)
  • Low battery on Echo speaker
  • Trouble connecting to a WiFi
  • Disable Alarm
  • Turn off Alexa Notifications or reminders
  • Stuck on the Blue ring of Death
  • Echo dot can’t receive commands
  • Software bugs

Know how can fix Alexa’s randomly beep

1) Low battery warning of connected devices

Have you connected any Bluetooth device to your Alexa? When it has a low battery charge, the Echo will make a beep sound. I have experienced my Echo beep 3 times once I connected my Sonos Bluetooth speaker to it having low charge on it.

I just plugged the power cord of the speaker into the power outlet, and the beep sound stopped.

So, whatever external devices are connected to your Alexa, make sure that it has a sufficient charge on it.

2) Low charge on Alexa’s built-in battery

Echo devices have built-in batteries for the convenience of moving the device around the home as well as not to disrupt the working of the device in case of power failure.

In almost all the models, the battery charge lasts up to 10 hours when it has a full charge. When the battery is almost dry, say below 10%, Echo will notify the issue with a beep sound.

So, make sure to keep the device with a minimum battery charge so that we can avoid the issue.

5th Gen device has a charging base station with a power pack battery on it which has a power backup for up to 15 hours (My experience).

I recommend you to be the device plugged into the power source if it has a fixed place, so it won’t beep randomly due to the lack of charge.

3) Trouble connecting to a WiFi network

Red light flashing followed by the beep sound on start-up indicates that there is an issue in connecting the device to the WiFi network.

You should check your WiFi router whether it is working properly. Sometimes, you can hear the prompt “She can’t connect to the internet” followed by a beep sound.

4) Disable Alarm

Once you set an alarm on your Alexa, it’ll beep at the time. You can confirm whether there is time you set for Alarm, just head up to the Alexa app on your smartphone, then tap on the “More” tab, and navigate to the alarm section.

Disable the alarm and get rid of the beep sound.

With a simple voice command, you can simply cancel it. “Alexa, please cancel the alarm“. That’s all.

5) Turn off Alexa notifications

Probably you may enable the mobile notifications on your Alexa that cause the beeping when each time there is notification comes on your mobile device.

Simply turn off the mobile notifications under the settings tab on the app.

Follow these steps.

  • Open the mobile app (Alexa)
  • Then tap on the Menu icon in the top left corner
  • Select Settings option
  • Then tap on the Notifications tab
  • Select the Reminder tab,
  • and then disable Mobile notifications

This will stop all the notification beep sound coming on your connected iPhone, iPad, or Android device.

In the same way, turn off Amazon shopping notifications. Once you turned ON this feature, Delivered/Out for delivery notifications will make a beep sound that can irritate you. This also can be disabled under the Reminders tab in the settings section.

Likely, enable unwanted notifications like Answer updates, things to try, etc.

6) Alexa Blue ring of death

Echo spinning Blue light continuously when there is an issue with the Alexa, what we called the Blue ring of death/ stuck on the Blue ring. Sometimes, this issue may happen with a beep sound that is only resolved by power recycling the device.

You can read the troubleshooting tips that I have written in another article, by the way, the link is included.

7) Alexa can’t listen to your voice command because of heavy nuisance around it

You should keep a minimum of silence when you provide a voice command to her. If there is a heavy sound from the TV or any other form, once you give a command with the wake word Alexa, it can’t accept it. and may produce a beep sound.

8) Alexa software has a bug, update it

How long did you use Alexa Echo without the firmware update?

Ultimately, with a simple software update, you can simply enhance the system’s efficiency. Amazon engineers frequently release the software update so that the user can update to the latest version Via downloading the file online.

Most probably, Alexa will update the system itself whenever the new version is available on their server.

You can check the availability of the new version under the settings section.

Have you ever noticed the glimmering Blue color of the Echo Dot device? which means that the device is receiving an update.

While receiving a system update, Alexa may not respond to voice commands. Wait till the process is completed.

If your Echo Dot doesn’t update to the latest version, follow the instructions in the video below to force update the device.

Also, please keep an eye on the application too. Update it regularly when a new version is available on play store/app store.

Why Does My Alexa Have A Yellow Ring That Won’t Go Away?

Are you experiencing a persistent yellow ring on your Alexa Echo that won’t go away? If the answer is yes, here is the solution for you. We know that every color code on Echo has a different meaning.

The yellow ring on Alexa means that you have notifications to check on your Alexa app. It may be any messages or notices regarding your recent purchases on Amazon. To check this, go to the menu in the top left corner, and then select the settings option. Then select the “Notification ” tab to check all the messages. Or else, you can check it with a simple voice command “Alexa, Do I have any notifications ” or “Read my messages“.

But what to do the Yellow ring is still there even when you read all the notifications. I know it’s more frustrating.

The reason why your Alexa device has a yellow ring that won’t go away is most probably due to pending Amazon notifications. Whenever you make a purchase on Amazon, each step of the shipment process triggers messages sent to your Echo device. These messages encompass shipping updates, and delivery status (like “out for delivery,” “delivered,” “Order updates” etc.).

How to Fix the Continuous Alexa Yellow Ring Blinking Issue?

To get rid of the Yellow ring that won’t disappear, you have to deal with the notification settings on your connected Alexa mobile application.

Under the notification tab, you can see different types of categories of notices. They are

  • Amazon Shopping
  • Announcements
  • Auto Mode
  • Calendar
  • Communication
  • Reminders
  • Things to try

Turn off Amazon delivery update notifications

It’s OK if you have just ordered one product from Amazon and getting the delivery update of it, because when you read the notification it’ll get disappeared.

But,

Sometimes, you may order a lot of products on the same day, so all of the product’s delivery dates will be almost the same day (maybe/may not be). So all the products update will be on your Alexa Echo notification folder it may cause continuous blinking of the Yellow ring. In such cases, you can temporarily turn off the delivery status.

To get the notification settings, open your Alexa app. Then tap the “More” tab on the bottom right corner of the screen. Then select the “Settings” option and then tap on the “Notifications” tab.

Now, you have to select the Amazon shopping tab. Toggle the button to OFF for all those notifications that you don’t need.

Recommended turning off the option “For Items in delivery updates” because it gives continuous notification on Echo and it causes the Yellow ring to blink continuously.

Disable personalized recommendations

By default, personalized shopping recommendations are turned ON on your Alexa. So that it’ll send all the product recommendations to your Alexa Excho based on your product purchase and search history. So, there’ll be a lot of recommendation notices will be on your device. So, it’ll continuously pulse on Yellow color.

So, disable the personalized recommendations.

Disable Amazon product recommendation notifications

Just turn off both ‘Deal Recommendations‘ and ‘Reorder Recommendations‘ under the shopping recommendations tab, and the issue will be resolved.

Disable Amazon community notifications

There are millions of participants in Amazon and their community forums actively participating in question-answer forums and review ratings.

In community forums, the place for solving all the issues related to Amazon products and services, a hell lot of people ask their questions. The moderators and other active members will answer all the questions.

Additionally, when you complete a purchase and get delivered, the seller can request you to rate their product and service on Amazon.

All these updates will be sent to your Alexa Echo and it causes the continuous Yellow ring to blink.

toggle off community messages

Additionally, when a user purchases the product you bought and reviews the product, they write their thoughts on Amazon with a star rating. All the reviews are genuine and checked by manually the Amazon AI system. All these updates will be sent to your Alexa as a notification message.

So, disable these settings to get rid of the arrogant continuous messages.

Ask Alexa to clear notifications

If there are hundreds of notifications on your box, and the Yellow ring won’t go away, simply as Alexa to clear all the messages.

With a simple Alexa voice command, you can fix the issue.

Try this,

Alexa, delete all my notifications

That’s enough. All will be cleared.

Try play messages

If your friends or family members are sending messages through Alexa, and when you as Alexa to play notifications, probably, the messages will not play. And it will act like notice and again the Yellow ring will blink continuously.

So, try this voice command,

Alexa, play messages

Or else,

Alexa, delete all messages.

It’ll play all messages and will clear the pending messages.

Clear Alexa app cache

If any one of the above-given troubleshooting methods doesn’t help you. Simply clear the Alexa app cache on your mobile so that all the incoming messages and notifications will be completely removed from the app, and it’ll fix the issue.

To clear the cache, go to app settings and clear the cache memory option.

Conclusion

I hope the given troubleshooting tips help you to fix the yellow ring issue on your Echo device.

so, What you can do not to happen this issue in the future?

Always remember to check your Amazon notifications regularly and apply the necessary settings adjustments for a smooth and hassle-free experience. Enjoy seamless interaction with Alexa and make the most out of its features!

Will Alexa Work Without WiFi? All That You Need To Know

Alexa has become a crucial part of smart homes. A smart home isn’t complete without an Alexa device. To create a top-notch home, set up things like smart lights, a home theater, etc. Some devices require wifi, while others don’t. Many beginners wonder if Alexa can work without wifi. I’ll answer that and other related questions in a detailed post.

The straightforward answer is NO. Alexa requires a continuous connection to its servers, so it won’t function without wifi. Any interruption in the internet connection will disrupt its operation, as it relies on a constant internet connection.

Alexa, Amazon’s voice-activated virtual assistant, relies on an internet connection to function properly. This is because Alexa needs to send your voice commands to Amazon’s servers in the cloud for processing. Without a wifi connection, Alexa is unable to access the internet and therefore cannot interpret voice commands or provide responses.

For features like playing music, getting news updates, controlling smart home devices, setting timers and alarms, or asking general questions, a constant wifi connection is required. So if your wifi goes down, Alexa will be unable to complete any tasks until the connection is restored.

Alexa does have some limited functionality offline, like being able to set a repeating alarm, but most features will not work without an active internet connection. This wifi dependency is a limitation of Alexa’s cloud-based voice service structure.

How voice command is processed between a user and Alexa server?

When a user issues a voice command to an Alexa device like an Amazon Echo, the device records the speech and sends an audio file of the command to Amazon’s servers in the cloud. There, Alexa’s speech recognition software analyzes the audio file to identify the words spoken and determine the user’s intent. This information is passed to Alexa’s natural language processing algorithms which interpret the full meaning behind the command.

Alexa then formulates a response, which is converted to speech by text-to-speech system. This audio response is sent back to the user’s Echo device and played out loud to deliver its reply.

The entire process relies on the device having an active internet connection to transmit the voice data to and from Amazon’s servers in the cloud. Without wifi, Alexa would be unable to send the user’s command or receive the appropriate response

How much bandwidth does Alexa consume?

How much bandwidth does alexa consume

A minimum of 500 Kbps speed is required for the smooth functioning of your Alexa device. There is a clear specification for download and upload speed favorable.

  • Average upload speed – 12.5 kbps
  • Maximum upload speed – 42.7 Kbps
  • Average download speed – 210.0 kbps
  • Maximum upload speed – 482.1 Kbps

What are the common WiFi related issues?

  • Offline Issue
  • can’t communicate with smart devices
  • Bluetooth connectivity issue
  • Music keeps cutting on Alexa echo smart device
  • can’t find smart devices
  • Frequent disconnect from WiFi
  • Alexa didn’t understand what you say

All of these devices are in close proximity to the WiFi network and connected to Alexa. Providing a stable WiFi connection to Alexa can resolve the issues listed above.

Having a high-speed internet connection with Alexa will also address the mentioned issues. I personally use WiFi from the 4G network, and it works fine on my end.

Check your internet connection strength online

Conclusion

Alexa’s functionality is heavily dependent on having an active internet connection. The vast majority of Alexa’s capabilities require wifi in order to operate correctly, as Alexa needs to send voice commands to the cloud and receive back responses quickly. Only very limited features like alarms can work offline.

Alexa is designed as a cloud-based virtual assistant, so losing wifi connectivity essentially disables it from completing most tasks. While the device does offer some offline features, they are minimal. For Alexa to understand, process, and respond to voice commands in a natural conversational way, a constant, stable wifi connection is necessary.

Overall, Alexa will not work as intended without an internet connection, making wifi a fundamental requirement for the virtual assistant.

Hope you understand the concepts and resolved your queries

How To Stop Alexa From Saying OK/Playing From?

All the possible features are included in Alexa to make it more user-friendly. One of the features is the brief mode. I got this feature familiarized by searching for the solution when I felt arrogant Alexa saying the word ‘OK‘ for every response by Alexa after my voice commands.

Some other words like ‘playing from‘, ‘Now connected to‘, and ‘By the way‘ are repeated for every voice commands. Enabling the brief mode will help you to turn off all these repeated words, and get a direct response. I’ll show you how to do it through this post.

It’s not a big deal, we can do this in 2 – 3 steps through your Echo-connected Alexa mobile app.

How to stop Alexa from saying OK?

Activate the brief mode, under the voice response settings. Your Alexa will speak less and play a short sound instead of giving a lengthy sentence, this saves more time.

So, how’ll you turn ON the brief mode?

Open the Alexa app on your device, then tap on the three-grid (Named More) line in the bottom right corner.

Open alexa mobile app

Then tap on the settings tab to open the all possible Alexa settings

open alexa settings

Under the main settings, you’ll see ALEXA PREFERENCES sub-settings, Select the Voice responses option from there.

select voiceresponse under Alexa preferences

Three options are available such as Alexa’s voice (To change voice to a custom sound like Jarvis’), Brief mode, and whisper mode.

How to turn on Alexa brief mode

That’s it. Now you’ll never hear the word OK, Playing from, etc when Alexa responds to your voice queries.

Toggle the button OFF, to start saying all these words again.

Through a voice command

Don’t touch on your app, but through a voice command, let Amazon turn on the settings you want. Just say “Alexa, please turn on Brief mode”.

As simple as that.

How To Stop Alexa From Saying Playing From?

In order to stop the announcement “Playing from” on your Alexa, you have to turn off the announcement on the device.

Follow the instructions:

  • Open your Alexa app, and navigate to the Settings tab
  • Then select device settings
  • Select the specific device that you connected (For example, iPhone/Bluetooth speaker)
  • Now select specific device settings, and under this, you can see the Notification tab
  • Tap on it and then Toggle it to disable it

What to do when Alexa brief mode is not working?

If your Alexa brief mode not working, you may be made some mistakes while enabling it. There are fewer possibilities to be having an issue with Amazon Central or the server.

Just turn off Your Echo Dot speaker for a while and then try to turn on the brief mode.

or,

suppose, you may be connected to more than one echo device to your Alexa app on your smartphone. Make sure that you selected the correct Echo speaker.

Try to switch on brief mode Via your mobile app, not through Alexa voice command.

This can be a problem, but not sure. Think, have you requested Alexa, please turn on brief mode?

Rather than this method, I highly recommend you go through the steps I outlined above.

Do not reset the echo dot once you changed this setting. If you reset your device, you need to enable the mode again to be effective on your Alexa.

And finally, if still, the problem persists, then update the app and re-register your Echo to your Alexa account.

Note:- When you combined more than one speaker to play the same output in every room, you don’t need to worry about it.

Conclusion

Like this, there are so many customization options available. And most importantly, we can simply do all of them just with a voice command or through a simple app interface.

Hope this helps you.

The possible causes are

How To Fix Shark Robot Vacuum Error 2?

Unclogging the brushes and wheels is very important in fixing Error code 2 on the Shark Robot. Even very small debris or hairs accumulated may obstruct its working and cause an issue.

Follow the troubleshooting methods

Clean the roller brush

The roller brush is the main part of a Shark Robot Vacuum, and it has a major cleaning job. As a result, the probability of accumulation of hairy particles is high on this component.

The roller brush thoroughly cleans the debris, and when the robot passes through an area with large hairy particles, the chances of these particles accumulating on the brush and obstructing its working increase. Therefore, manual unclogging is essential.

You can either clean the roller brush by keeping it in its original position. But if you want to completely clean and remove all the obstructions, I would recommend you unscrew and remove it from its socket.

Unscrew the Shark robot main brush roller

After unscrewing the brush roller, remove it from the socket. You can see hair particles accumulated mainly on its side portions, and on other areas too.

Then manually remove all the debris from the roller wheel.
