All the possible features are included in Alexa to make it more user-friendly. One of the features is the brief mode. I got this feature familiarized by searching for the solution when I felt arrogant Alexa saying the word ‘OK‘ for every response by Alexa after my voice commands.
Some other words like ‘playing from‘, ‘Now connected to‘, and ‘By the way‘ are repeated for every voice commands. Enabling the brief mode will help you to turn off all these repeated words, and get a direct response. I’ll show you how to do it through this post.
It’s not a big deal, we can do this in 2 – 3 steps through your Echo-connected Alexa mobile app.
How to stop Alexa from saying OK?
Activate the brief mode, under the voice response settings. Your Alexa will speak less and play a short sound instead of giving a lengthy sentence, this saves more time.
So, how’ll you turn ON the brief mode?
Open the Alexa app on your device, then tap on the three-grid (Named More) line in the bottom right corner.
Then tap on the settings tab to open the all possible Alexa settings
Under the main settings, you’ll see ALEXA PREFERENCES sub-settings, Select the Voice responses option from there.
Three options are available such as Alexa’s voice (To change voice to a custom sound like Jarvis’), Brief mode, and whisper mode.
That’s it. Now you’ll never hear the word OK, Playing from, etc when Alexa responds to your voice queries.
Toggle the button OFF, to start saying all these words again.
Through a voice command
Don’t touch on your app, but through a voice command, let Amazon turn on the settings you want. Just say “Alexa, please turn on Brief mode”.
As simple as that.
How To Stop Alexa From Saying Playing From?
In order to stop the announcement “Playing from” on your Alexa, you have to turn off the announcement on the device.
Follow the instructions:
- Open your Alexa app, and navigate to the Settings tab
- Then select device settings
- Select the specific device that you connected (For example, iPhone/Bluetooth speaker)
- Now select specific device settings, and under this, you can see the Notification tab
- Tap on it and then Toggle it to disable it
What to do when Alexa brief mode is not working?
If your Alexa brief mode not working, you may be made some mistakes while enabling it. There are fewer possibilities to be having an issue with Amazon Central or the server.
Just turn off Your Echo Dot speaker for a while and then try to turn on the brief mode.
or,
suppose, you may be connected to more than one echo device to your Alexa app on your smartphone. Make sure that you selected the correct Echo speaker.
Try to switch on brief mode Via your mobile app, not through Alexa voice command.
This can be a problem, but not sure. Think, have you requested Alexa, please turn on brief mode?
Rather than this method, I highly recommend you go through the steps I outlined above.
Do not reset the echo dot once you changed this setting. If you reset your device, you need to enable the mode again to be effective on your Alexa.
And finally, if still, the problem persists, then update the app and re-register your Echo to your Alexa account.
Note:- When you combined more than one speaker to play the same output in every room, you don’t need to worry about it.
Conclusion
Like this, there are so many customization options available. And most importantly, we can simply do all of them just with a voice command or through a simple app interface.
Hope this helps you.
